Clinical musculoskeletal sports upper limb taping includes postural correction, unloading pelvis and spinal structures with muscle imbalance corrections and motor control strategies for athletes.
Taping is often under estimated as an effective adjunct in the management of upper limb musculoskeletal problems. This course examines the scientific evidence of taping, the clinical rationale and clinical reasoning strategies including assessment and reassessment. Upper limb clinical case histories will discuss the clinical application of taping when used for unloading musculoskeletal structures, muscle imbalances and motor control for upper limb dysfunctions.
Course learning objectives:
On successful completion of this course, the student will have:
- understood the scientific evidence of musculoskeletal taping
- understood the clinical reasoning strategies for the appropriate application of upper limb musculoskeletal taping
- demonstrated clinical taping techniques related to upper limb clinical presentations including: glenohumeral joint dysfunction, repositioning an anterior translated head of humerus, rotator cuff, unloading glenohumeral and acromioclavicular joint, motor control of glenohumeral and scapulothroacic areas, postural correction, elbow hyperextension injuries and tennis elbow
- discussed taping techniques related to case history scenarios
