About this course
For learners who have an interest and enthusiasm for Local History with a desire to extend their knowledge and hopefully wish to study History in a more meaningful/in depth way in the future
No previous experience is necessary. The course is aimed at total beginners that have had no experience of Local History

Through a mixture of strategies – short lecture, quiz, discussion, question/answer session and written work.

What other support is available?
Help with numeracy or literacy is available. ICT drop-in sessions are available during term time and are open to all learners. Additional support can be provided for students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Learner Support Funding is available for equipment, childcare and travel to learners who qualify. The main themes of Local History with examples provided from each of the following listed below:-
• Recreation and leisure including the music hall and old cinemas
• The old industries of the region including a brief history
• Shopping and the high street and how it has changed and developed
• Transport and the major changes/developments in the region
• Housing and conditions including slum clearance areas
