About this course
At the end of the course you will:
• Appreciate that electrical items can be a source of ignition that could cause an explosion
• Understand what is meant by zones, temperature factors, ingress protection codes
• Understand how gas/vapour certified equipment might be used in combustible dust situations (BS 7535)
• Understand how BS 6467 part 2, IEC (or BSEN) 60079-17 and EN 50281 impacts upon areas of combustible dust
Electrical and instrument engineers, supervisors and technicians who need to develop and demonstrate their competency for working on Electrical Apparatus for use in the Presence of Combustible Dusts.
Ideally the course candidate will be a Time-Served Electrical/Instrument Apprentice or; possess an Electrical/Instrument NVQ Level 3. The candidate should bring to the course evidence of the above and other relevant electrical/instrumentation qualification certificates. Candidates who cannot provide evidence of their qualifications will receive a non-technical person’s certificate. Proof of a Gold Card from the JIB/SJIB will ensure the candidate is automatically accepted onto the course. Along with the qualifications, the candidate must also be a practising electrical/instrument craftspers
Successful delegates will receive a UK JTL Certificate of Core Competence valid for 5 years.
