Course programme

Year 1

You will get four books, comprising: two study books for 901 hardware and 902 software and two lab books for 901 and 902. On the course you will be taught by an IT professional who will cover the modules and units. The theory will then be followed by practical labs which will include carrying out a bench build of a PC, partitioning and formatting drives, installing operating systems including Linux, configuring OS, firewalls, networking, recovery options, virtual environments, troubleshooting, mobile devices, laptops, hard drives, bus standards to name a few of the topics that will be covered. There will be resources available online for practising and online assessments.

Additional information

Students earn A+ certification by first taking the A+ course with us and then passing two CompTIA exams. Each exam includes multiple-choice and performance-based questions that require students to perform in a simulated environment: CompTIA A+ 220-901 exam covers the fundamentals of computer technology, installation and configuration of PCs, laptops and related hardware, and basic networking. CompTIA A+ 220-902 exam covers the skills required to install and configure PC operating systems, as well as configuring common features (such as network connectivity and email) for mobile operating systems including Android, Linux and Apple iOS. Formative assessment will be done in the class as well to see how you are progressing.
