Innovation and development of an idea to produce a computer or a web based application for your own business venture or working for a large web front end or mobile internet company require people with highly developed coding skills. This degree offers students the chance to develop their coding and application development skills and knowledge while immersing themselves in practical aspects and academic study of the computer industry and application development.

Commercial SME and corporate work based learning and placements are an integral feature of our Computer Coding and Application Development  degree programme, as is developing understanding of how key aspects of commerce and business are integral to successful web management and business operations.

Students will be introduced to the professional standards of corporate business and the computer industry, and be exposed to entrepreneurial concepts that will enable them to see opportunities for creating businesses or engage in a rewarding career.

Warwickshire College was granted Foundation degree awarding powers by her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council in September 2014 reflecting the very high confidence placed in us by independent higher education assessors after a year-long detailed scrutiny. This is one of the first of our new awards following a successful course approval during 2015. The highly experienced teams at Leamington and Rugby have been delivering Foundation degrees, awarded by partner universities, since 2007 and have had the pleasure of seeing many graduates progress to a wide range of jobs, higher degrees and other successful positions.

What qualifications will I get?

FdSc Computer Coding and Application Development

How will I be assessed?

The degree programme is primarily assessed using a series of assignments and phase tests throughout the two year programme, plus a final examination.

You will also be required to undertake 400 hours of work placement within the 2 years.

What is the entry process?

Full-time application is through UCAS, informal interview required.

What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications: Full level 3

Minimum requirement for FdSc is 160 UCAS points or interview assessed experience & capability.

What else do I need to know?

There are two options available for this course, part time is 2 evenings a week, and full time is 4 days a week.

What can I do after this course?

Successful completion of this foundation degree will lead to opportunities to complete a third year of study to achieve a BSc Honours. Alternatively students should be equipped to gain their first position in a career within application development for SME or larger businesses or Coding and Application Development for a range of computing and web based agencies. Those students with an aptitude for entrepreneurial business will have skills sets which will support them to develop their own business ideas.
