English and Maths Functional Skills – these subjects are mandatory You will gain a wider knowledge in IT, along with personal and social development skills.
The course is linked to seeking employment in Applied IT and guidance and support will be given in searching and applying for jobs within the sector.
You will further develop your skills in Maths and English You will be assessed continually by assignments and practical activities, including presentations, and project work. These are externally moderated by the examination body.
Students must be capable of completing independent study and homework activities. Technology Campus. Students wishing to enrol to a Foundation Learning Programme will come with a range of qualifications which could include GCSEs, units of qualifications already taken or have few or no qualifications. Students need to demonstrate that they are working at Entry Level 2 in both Maths & English.
All students on Foundation Learning programmes will be required to develop skills in Employability, a vocational qualification and Maths, English.
Each student will be invited to an interview where a personalised learning programme can be discussed and agreed. Successful completion of this course will lead to the award of a Certificate in IT.
Students who successfully pass all the qualifications may then have the opportunity to progress onto a range of Level 1 qualifications at Leeds City College.
