Computing Sciences at Sussex gives you the skills needed to succeed in a constantly evolving industry that’s revolutionising our lives.
Our Foundation Year prepares you for continued study in computing subjects. By learning about database and application development, object-oriented programming and programming design, you develop necessary mathematics and study skills, as well as basic programming skills.
After completing your Foundation Year, you can focus on Computer Science or combine it with subjects such as Business and Management, Digital Media or Artificial Intelligence.

We welcome students with a broad range of backgrounds and experiences, including:
those who aren't sure which subject they'd like to specialise in
those who don't have the right combination of subjects for direct entry into Year 1
those who don't meet the expected requirements for direct entry into Year 1

Course programme
You develop skills for degree-level study. You take introductory modules on topics including:
- object-oriented programming
- program design
- mathematics for computing
- database and application development.
These modules are running in the academic year 2018/19. We also plan to offer them in future academic years. They may become unavailable due to staff availability, student demand or updates to our curriculum. We’ll make sure to let our applicants know of such changes to modules at the earliest opportunity.
