The course is for you if you are interested in software development, programming or computer gaming and enjoy finding imaginative solutions to complex problems.
By selecting appropriate options, you can not only develop your skills in using a range of software and programming languages, but also develop skills in gaming software.
More generally, the course will equip you with the skills necessary to adapt to the frequent changes in the world of computing and with the knowledge of engineering solutions to real-world problems.
You will develop the personal and organisational skills required by employers and universities.
For university entry this Level 3 Diploma is equivalent to 3 'A' Levels or a maximum of 420 UCAS points.

Course programme

You will study 18 subjects to get your Diploma over two years: Communication and Employability Skills for IT Computer Systems Information Systems Event Driven Programming Object Orientated Programming Procedural Programming Project Planning with IT Database Design Client Side Customisation of Web Pages Developing Computer Games Mathematics for IT Practitioners Web Server Scripting Website Production Digital Graphics 2D Animation Production Computer Game Platforms and Technologies 3D Modelling Spreadsheet Modelling You will also develop your functional skills. You will use a range of ICT applications for software development and will learn how to work effectively with others. The course runs at our Park Lane Campus. A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including Mathematics and English or equivalent (L2 Functional Skills), a Higher Diploma (which is equivalent to 7 GCSEs at Grades A* - C), NVQ2 or level 2 Diploma at Merit Grade with ideally Maths and English at minimum Grade C or equivalent (Level 2 in Functional Skills). Successful completion of this course will lead to the award of a Diploma in IT qualification, which is the equivalent of three A levels.
