Aims:
To enable physiotherapists to develop skills in CTM practice and clinical decisionmaking and to facilitate its integration into current clinical practice.
Connective Tissue Manipulation is a manual therapy technique, which targets layers of connective tissues. Conceptually, it is a reflex therapy so clinical reasoning is focused on segmental and supra segmental autonomic connections, particular cutaneo-visceral reflexes. There is clear physiological evidence for the reflex pathways and some research evidence for the effects of CTM.
CTM is useful for treating painful disorders such as chronic nerve root and low back problems, ITB and shin splints, circulatory disorders and gynaecological problems. This course will develop assessment, treatment skills and clinical reasoning skills across a range of conditions.
