This course is aimed at students with a keen interest in Construction and provides the opportunity to explore both the technical and practical aspects of the industry. You will learn about Health and Safety, how the industry works and the science and maths needed to work in the Industry. This course is designed for those who wish to follow a Professional career in Construction as opposed to a craft career such as a bricklayer or carpenter.

Course programme
How will I study?
The course comprises of 12 units of competence. Ranging from Health and Safety, Maths, graphical detailing and an insight into basic craft disciplines (brickwork, carpentry and painting and decorating). If you are a full time student aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme which will consist of your main Construction course, enterprise and enrichment activities, English and maths as well work experience
How will I be taught?
The methods of teaching and learning will be practical sessions, group work, individual work, lectures and self-study.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed throughout the year with a wide range of written assignments and practical tasks, offering students the opportunity to research many areas of the construction industry and construction methods. You will also be required to complete 2 functional skills (maths and ILT)
