About this course
You must be nineteen years of age or older and working in the field in which you wish to study. You will need to complete an initial assessment in Literacy and Numeracy which will help the assessor decide on the correct level of study for you. Your employer must be willing for the assessment to take place during your usual working hours.

Is the course for me?
These courses are aimed at people already working in the construction industry, who have experience and skills but no formal qulaifications.
What will I learn?
NVQs are offered in a variety of areas, these include Paintind and Decorating, Joinery and Brickwork. You will be assessed in the workplace and gather evidence for a portfolio which will form the basis of your NVQ. If there are areas in which you need additional training your assessor can arrange this on site or you can attend college to access the training here. For details of the individual courses you will need to speak to the relevant assessor/tutor and this can be arranged via Learner Services.
How will I be assessed?
A combination of assessment methods will be used, including written evidence, observations, photographs, questions and answers, etc.
What can I do after the course?
There are many higher level qualifications avaialble after a level 2 NVQ, including subject specific ones such as level 3 NVQs and broader based courses such as Management and Customer Service.
