Overview
Our Construction Project Management MSc programme is tailored for construction professionals looking for a more holistic perspective of construction project processes and the challenge of project management in complex building and infrastructure projects.
Competency in project management has become a key part of the skills-set of every construction professional and executive, with many construction project managers functioning in a strategic and coordinating role in the delivery of the client’s physical development and investment programme.
The Construction Project Management programme includes accredited online content to prepare students to sit the “PRojects IN Controlled Environments” (PRINCE2) Foundation exam or the 'Association for Project Management Project Fundamentals Qualification' (APM PFQ). This online content is provided by a third-party provider: Training ByteSize. We are also a corporate affiliate member of the Association of Project Management.
In addition to state-of-the-art teaching facilities, the School houses its own design studio and computer laboratory. Our 3,000m2 open-plan laboratory includes concrete, geotechnics, strength of materials, hydraulics, structures, surveying, public health and building services engineering laboratories along with support workshops.
You will also benefit from access to our High Performance computing facility – one of the UK’s fastest clusters.
The School hosts BISPA – Building and Industrial Services Pipework Academy. It is a collaboration with global steel manufacturer Tata Steel and its Tubes business, and CIBSE – Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers.

What I would highlight: Studying in Loughborough is great experience. Student union is awesome as it always active in organizing events for social life, charity & fun. It is one of the best campus due to facilities like shops, library, WifI, gyms & Pool.

This module introduces students to the range of techniques and strategies for managing people and teams within the context of the construction sector, and enables students to apply this knowledge within individual and team-based exercises. Topics covered include: Challenges of managing people in construction; overview of organization and management theory; introduction to organizational behaviour (individuals and teams); motivation; leadership styles and skills; teamwork and team development; Human Recourse Management theory; strategic HRM approaches; conflict management; culture and ethics.

Federated 3D Building Information Modelling (BIM)

The creation, deployment and use of aggregated and integrated (Level 2 and 3) models are key goals of collaboration through BIM. This module aims to deliver hands-on practical skills on the use of BIM technologies (i.e. design software and collaboration tools) for real-time collaboration of federated/aggregated 3D BIM models. The theories of group working; workspace awareness and shared situational awareness within design teams/processes will be explored.
