This apprenticeship framework is offered by BMet college, however our employers directly recruit candidates for themselves. We therefore are not able to offer open applications at this time.
This apprenticeship could see you working for a high street retailer, manufacturer or even becoming your own boss helping to install or fix a range of electrical products like washing machines and refrigerators. So if you have a keen interest in technology, good logical thinking skills to work out what’s causing a device to fail, and practical skills to fix it, this could be the apprenticeship for you. Apprentices can specialise in a number of areas and depending on your employer you could expect to learn about appliances like washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, tumble dryers and electric cookers. Whatever area you choose you will cover installation, servicing and maintenance procedures.

Entry Requirements

A good level of secondary education is expected (maths and English GCSE at a D grade or above) and many employers expect you to have C grade or above qualifications. Employers also look for skills like motivation, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn and will set their own specifications depending on the role.

Delivery and Assessment

The duration of an apprenticeship will vary depending on the needs of the employer but you will be required to complete qualifications during the period usually with set study days. As part of the apprenticeship, there will be a number of specific skills that your employer or college tutor will monitor and observe to prove that you have reached a certain level of understanding and competence.

Progression

On completion of the apprenticeship, you could work as a Domestic Service Engineer, Air Conditioning Engineer or other related role. Typically the role is field based and has the advantage of being provided with a company vehicle.
