About this course
The MA is open to anyone capable of studying at this level – normally we look for a degree in theology or a related subject at 2:1 or above, but we are willing to look at other qualifications and take relevant experience into account.

Course programme
MA in Contextual Theology
Mode: full-time
Many participants choose to take the course part time, using it to reflect on their practice in ministry, community development, or the secular work-place. After taking a module which introduces and builds on the principles of contextual theology, participants can choose three other modules relating to church and ministry, society and contemporary culture, or the world church in its global context. This leads to a post-graduate diploma. Those wishing to complete the MA continue and write a dissertation on a subject of their choice.
It is possible to take all modules from one pathway, or to choose from different areas. Depending on the timetable and your availability, you can put together a programme suitable for chaplaincy work, emerging church or pioneer ministries, translocal ministries, or community development. Modules are taught in a variety of patterns – some in short blocks or summer schools, others on a weekly basis over ten weeks. Particularly for part-time students, there is considerable flexibility and choice, and MA staff will advise you, and help you to put together a portfolio of courses that will be suit your own professional and personal needs.
Many MA modules can also be taken as stand-alone short courses or residential summer schools, and we welcome those who want to take these for their own sake, or as “tasters” before committing themselves to the full MA programme.
