Counselling Children and Adolescents Course
About the Level 4 Counselling Children and Adolescents Certificate
Counselling children and adolescents is a great deal different from working with adults. Unlike adults, children and teenagers are going through a time of great developmental change. This means that the brain is changing significantly during this time. This is why we need trained professional counsellors who specialise in working with children.
Students who enrol on this counselling children and adolescents course will study 22 engaging modules. As they work through the home learning material, they will learn all they need to know about child counselling. They will study an array of topics, including: behaviour therapies, grief and bereavement, memory, bullying, conflict and stress and co-dependency.
Who should study this course?
This course has been specifically designed for individuals who are interested in gaining child counselling qualifications and working in youth counselling. This online course may also be suitable for those who are already working children and teenagers in other professions.
Students do not need any prior experience to apply for this course. However, it is worth noting that if they plan to work with children in the future, they will need a clean DBS check. Students will also need to have an interest in the topic and the motivation to engage in home study.
What happens after the course?
On successful completion of this counselling course at Stonebridge College, you will able to begin you career as a counsellor. To do this, you could work as a self-employed counsellor and build up a client base, or seek work in schools, youth services or charities.
Alternatively, you may decide to work towards a higher level qualification. If you complete a degree and a masters degree, you could become a child psychotherapist and work for the NHS or even a private practice. Jobs in this field include:
