2. Course description This is a Level 1 Foundation course, which will provide a broad introduction to counselling.You will learn about the main theoretical approaches that underpin counselling, in addition to looking at boundaries, confidentiality and non-verbal communication. You will also practice a range of counselling skills using a variety of methods including role-play and discussion. The skills learnt are transferable into contexts other than counselling.

3. Entry requirements The course is appropriate for students who want to develop the necessary counselling skills, that are needed as a first step in training as a counsellor. No prior training in counselling is necessary.We welcome learners with additional needs and disabilities. Please let staff know if you require any extra support when you enrol and they will arrange for a member of the Supported Learning Team to contact you to discuss your support needs.
