Course programme
You will need to have 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above including English and Maths or the equivalent with a good standard of secondary education and a keen interest in the countryside.
You will undertake conservation and wildlife habitat management at college and gain a variety of experience and skills including practical work on local sites and woodlands. At Duchy College we have a strong link with Cornwall County Council , National Trust, RSPB and regularly conduct conservation work with Cornwall Wildlife Trust and Duchy Woodlands. On the course you will also gain valuable theory in subjects such as habitat management, estate maintenance, machinery, environmental and livestock conservation management and ecological principles and work skills.
All students undertake a work placement within the rural sector.
The course allows individuals not only to gain academic qualifications but also build confidence become adaptable in the work place and develop transferable skills such as communication, working as part of a team, using initiative and creativity.
