Gaby kennedy
Teacher
Gaby graduated from The Royal School of Needlework, Hampton Court Palace in 2012 with a degree from the University for Creative Arts in Technical Hand Embroidery. Gaby learned a wide variety of traditional embroidery techniques including stumpwork, goldwork, silk shading and whitework to the highest level. She completed a millinery course with the London College of Fashion and is a hat maker too. She was lucky to be one of the embroiderers to work on the Royal Wedding dress and her embroidered hats were shown at the Knitting and Stitching show in London in 2012.
Course programme
With guidance from Gaby you will learn the following techniques: running stitch, split stitch, chain stitch, back stitch, petite point, French knots and the very versatile appliqué (applying fabric on fabric). We will learn how to add some sparkle to your project by applying beads and sequins. You might choose to just make lots of samples or come with a project in mind! This could be an embroidering a collar, pillow, pin cushion or a cuff. The possibilities are endless!
This course will take you from being a complete beginner to a competent and confident stitcher.
