A fulltime programme with the main learning aim to improve English and Maths skills and enable learners to progress to Early Years and Health and Social Care programmes. Functional skills in English and Maths are embedded in the vocational element which will support learners to develop their core skills in a vocational context. The vocational delivery will prepare learners for careers in Health & Social Care and Early Years Education and support them to make informed career choices.
In addition to Functional Skills in English and Maths you will study a range of vocational subject areas in preparation for Health and Social Care and Early Years career paths including
• Service provision
• Communication
• Equality and inclusion
• Health and Safety
• Lifespan development
There is also the opportunity to gain experience working with adults and children in Health and Social Care or Early Years settings.
There will be a cost to students of £100 which includes security check (DBS), course materials and kit. 19+ fees apply.

Course programme
On completing the qualification, learners who wish to pursue a career in either Health and Social Care or Early Years Education can progress to other Level 1 or 2 qualifications in Health and Social Care or the CACHE Level 1 Diploma in Caring for Children and the CACHE Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner. You may also join an apprenticeship programme.
No formal entry requirements but desire to learn. Have a keen interest in your chosen subject area.
In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
