Mood boards are an essential part of creative research and a key tool for any presentation, whether digital or analogue. Using the Granary Square building as inspiration and with students acting as their own artistic director, we will start with a single common starting point for the project using the building itself.

Who should take this course?

This course is aimed at students who are interested in creating a mood board over a single weekend.

Topics covered

Over the two day course, each student will build their own theme in order to produce their mood board and design a colour pallette specifically for a target customer.

Mood boards will vary greatly between individuals, but can include any combination of text, images, objects, etc. that are all put together in order to create an effective presentation tool.

By focusing on creativity and the mood board for communicating their ideas, students will begin to experience how to identify and find inspiration wherever they are.

The course will focus on the needs required to work in situations where an artistic director may be requesting the research and idea development, while the artist must produce tangible research presentations.

The structure of this course has been developed to allow for the expression of many different projects emanating from the same brief, while the creative process will provide student's with an opportunity to get their hands dirty making. All while providing opportunities for students to learn from each other as they create their mood board.

All students should leave the course with a comprehensive mood board project that they can use in their portfolios.
