Course programme



The Creative Arts Level 1 programme is a broad course designed for those who are interested in performing and visual arts. The course will enable you to gain confidence and familiarity with the skills, knowledge and understanding necessary to engage successfully with production arts activities. You will develop a repertoire of core skills through working on integrated projects with opportunities to design posters, props and costumes in addition to developing your personal strengths in music, media and/or production arts.


As well as contemporary practice, you will develop an understanding
 of contextual research used 
in art, design and media activities and the wider Creative Arts.


The course also provides a great opportunity to gain pre-employment training in the creative and cultural industries and is supplemented by a quality work shadowing experience. You will also undertake a recognised Arts Award at Level 2 alongside your main qualification.


The course will enable you to make informed choices with regard to a career in the Creative Arts sector. You will study English and maths as part of the course and have a range of opportunities to prepare for future employment through work shadowing.

Career Opportunities

There are a wide range of possible careers within the creative arts industries, from work within film, television or theatre production, advertising, publishing and web design, lighting or sound operation, venue management, equipment hire, retail and marketing, as well as jobs such as Stage Manager or Set Designer, Costumer Designer or Maker, Prop Designer or Maker, to Freelance Photographer.


Course Progression

Successful students are eligible to apply and progress to level 2 courses in Music, Performing Arts, Art and Design, and Creative Media Production. From there they may go on to Level 3 courses in Music, Music Technology, Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance, Technical Theatre, Creative Media Production or a Creative Apprenticeship.

Our term starts the week commencing 5th September 2016,
however you may have different start dates depending on the course.
