This Build your own MA (BYOMA) short course is aimed at teachers of all subjects, at all levels, who have a particular interest in the creative use of technology and creative research methods, in your own subject disciplines and curriculum areas.
With the advent of digital media, and what have been become termed ‘Web 2.0’ technologies, substantial claims have been made about the use of technology in learning. Many organisations now promote the research and development of technology in educational contexts (i.e. JISC) and the virtual learning environment (VLE) is now an established part of learning. Recent government policy, such as the new ICT curriculum in schools and the ‘NextGen’ report, have served to further foreground the effective use of technology - in schools, colleges and universities - as a prime pedagogic directive.
This short course critically evaluates the use of technology in the formal learning environment, and associated pedagogic ideas. You will be better informed about the pedagogy and research methods, which can underpin a more creative use of technology in the formal learning environment and will explores policy material in relation to the promotion and implementation of technology for the purposes of creative learning.
