The HND in Creative Media Production offers students a vocational progression route in to higher level study offering an exciting variety of units including: Moving Image, Journalism and Television. You will have the opportunity to combine theory and practice in an exciting and stimulating way, developing yourself as an individual media producer as well as gaining a sound understanding of professional practice in the ever growing media industry.

What you need to know
How will I study?

Learners studying for Edexcel BTEC Higher Nationals in Creative Media will be expected to develop the following skills during the programme of study: • synthesis of a range of concepts, knowledge and skills relating to creative media production • application of complex theories to practical realistic work situations in the creative media sectors • independence of approach to study and the generation of creative media evidence • ability to engage with complex and/or unpredictable situations in creative media contexts • ability to take responsibility to manage and direct their own and others’ activities • insight and judgement in relation to the margins and consequences of error • research and investigative skills • responsiveness to change and ability to multi-task • ability to innovate and work in a creative way.
How will I be taught?

Studies will include: Contextual Studies for Creative Media Production, Research Techniques for Creative Media Production, Practical Skills for Moving Image Production, Practical Skills for Journalism, Film Studies, Journalism Studies, Fiction Production for Moving Image, Politics for Journalists. In year 2: Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation, Special Subject Investigation, Director for Moving Image, Documentary Production, Television News, Photojournalism, Convergent Journalism
How will I be assessed?
