Course programme
The following units are taught through a combination of practical sessions and workshops:
Year 1 modules in 2014-15: Script Writing for Moving Image Fiction; Practical Skills for Moving Image Production; Lens-Based Recording Techniques in Art and Design; Digital Image Creation and Development; Moving Image Documentary Production; Animation Techniques; Project Design, Implementation and Evaluation; and Film Studies.
Year 2 modules in 2014-15: Research Techniques for Creative Media Production; Contextual Studies for Creative Media Production; 3D Computer Modelling and Animation; Sound Design for Moving Image Production; Development and Techniques of Film and Video Editing; Special Subject Investigation for Creative Media; Director for Moving Image Production; and Career Development for the Moving Image Industries.
Working in new facilities, including a professional photography studio, you will use state-of-the art equipment and software such as Mac suite: Adobe CS6 master collection and Final Cut Pro X; PC suite: Adobe CS6 master collection plus Maya, Softimage, Sketchbook, Mudbox and 3D Studio Max; Cameras: Canon EOS 5DM Mk111 HD DSLR camera kit; Sound: Sony ECMHW2 bluetooth Mic; Lighting: DTS Quarza and Redhead Lighting Kit; Movement: Hague Dolly and Track and Steadicam unit.

- 2 A Levels in related subjects at Grade C
- BTEC National or Extended Diploma at MPP
- BTEC National Certificate or Diploma at MM
- Access to Higher Education qualification (subject-related) at Pass
In addition:
- A portfolio of relevant work, including a showcase of any video, animation or sound work and an up-to-date CV
- 4 GCSEs at Grade C, including Maths and English. Please note, Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2 or Key skills Application of Number and Communication at Level 2 will be accepted in place of GCSE English and Maths.
- Students for which English is a second language are required to pass the IELTS test achieving a minimum of level 5.5.
Applicants who do not meet these entry criteria will be considered based on equivalent qualifications, previous experience, a College assessment, applicant interview and a portfolio of relevant work.
Assessment is based on coursework, but you will also undertake competency tests in camera operation, sound and editing.
You will get a Higher National Diploma in Creative Media Production.
Following the course, you can apply to enter the 2nd or final year of a BA Hons. You can also move straight into employment in a range of roles, including Production Coordinator, Creative Sound Designer, Camera Operator, Script Supervisor, Junior Graphic Designer, Researcher, Motion Graphics/VFX Artist, Runner, Assistant Editor, 2D/3D Animator.
