About this course

It is recommended that you have five GCSEs including English and maths at Grade 4 (C) or above. Adults with equivalent experience or qualifications will also be accepted. To study this module, you should be able to have understanding and knowledge of criminal law. Ideally, some knowledge would be beneficial or industry experience.

Course programme

Year 1

You will understand the key concepts, terms and processes in the area of Criminal Law.

You will learn and understand:
1. the fundamental principles of criminal liability,
2. the requirements for liability for criminal damage,
3. the requirements for liability for homicide,
4. the requirements for liability for theft,
5. the requirements for liability for attempting an offence,
6. the nature and requirements of the general defences,
7. the nature and features of strict liability.

Additional information

Students will take an exam towards the end of the module during a set month (January or June) set by the exam board. A fee will be incurred. The exam will be on 11th June 2019
