Why study this programme? Our BA Hons Criminology degree is contemporary, global and critical. By studying criminology at the extremes - comparing street crime with large-scale state crimes - this programme demonstrates that the causes, consequences and prevention of crime operate at local, national and international levels. Core subjects explore the social, cultural and political debates surrounding crime, victimisation and deviance, and cover current concerns within the discipline, including:Representations of crime and detection in popular TV and film. Imprisonment, prisoners and human rights. Gender, race and discrimination. Policing and organised crime.. Our courses cover key transnational issues, including security, terrorism, cybercrime and the criminology of war. Over the three years of the full-time degree, you will learn about crime scene investigation, forensic psychology, criminal profiling and the criminal justice system in the UK. In your second year of the full-time programme, you will learn how to carry out research on crime and criminals, which will equip you for a final-year dissertation research project on a criminological topic of your choice. The degree has been designed to enhance your academic knowledge, develop your key skills and provide transferable skills to aid your future employment. Ultimately, the programme aims to provide you with a range of potential career paths. You will be encouraged to volunteer with various criminal justice agencies during your time at Greenwich.Among the range of courses offered, the programme includes the opportunity to be selected, separately, for the:'Inside and Outside Perspectives on Criminology and Criminal Justice' course in which students study a criminology course in a prison, alongside serving prisoners;. and the:'Criminology, the Community and Work-Based Practice' - a
