Course programme

Course Details

This module comprises a portion of the MSc Child Protection and Adult Safeguarding, but is also offered as a stand-alone module. By undertaking this module solely, you will be co-located with students undertaking the entire course.

This module is designed to enable you to undertake a critical analysis of practice in both child protection and adult safeguarding. It uses a flexible approach, with an expectation that you will be able to 'tailor' the assessments to your specific area of practice or role.

Course content includes looking at:

  • policy changes and context for safeguarding
  • involvement with involuntary service users
  • intersectionalities of vulnerabilities
  • theories of public sector management
  • decision-making in safeguarding
  • communication skills with vulnerable individuals
  • service user rights
  • risk and rights - how they intersect and interplay.

Funding: we work with a number of organisations that are able to fund professionals to undertake this course. Please contact us for further information if interested.
