About this course

You will need to have an interest in bricklaying, but no formal qualifications are necessary.

NVQ Level 2 in Trowel Occupations Bricklaying and Diploma Level 2 in Bricklaying.

Course programme

What will I study on the course?

You will study how to carry out safe working practices in construction, knowledge of information, quantities and communication with others, knowledge of building methods and construction technology, how to interpret working drawings to set out masonry structures, knowledge of thin joint masonry cladding, how to build solid walling, isolated and attached piers, how to build cavity walling forming masonry structures.

Additional information

The course runs two days per week in the first year and one day per week in the second year. The main induction period for this course is in September but there will be the opportunity to enter at other times if places are available. The NVQ Level 2 is assessed entirely in the workplace.
