Our MA Cultural and Critical Studies explores critical and cultural debates across disciplines in the arts and humanities, offering you the chance to examine work in a diversity of media, including print culture, painting, film, new media and popular culture. It combines a thorough exposure to contemporary critical methods and debates with a diverse range of advanced study options.
In consultation with tutors, you will be able to build a dynamic programme of study that allows you to follow themes and issues across different disciplines, and develop your interests accordingly.

About this course
Graduates go in to careers in writing and journalism, editing and publishing, research, marketing and public relations. Possible professions include writing, editing, research, or publishing. This degree can also be useful in a variety of roles within the arts and humanities, such as an editorial assistant, arts administrator, or public relations officer.
Students should have a second-class honours degree (2:2) or above in a relevant subject: English, history, philosophy, visual culture, media studies, or an interdisciplinary programme with a strong humanities or arts component.

Course programme
The programme starts with a two-term core course that explores key concepts. This is followed by a choice of two option modules and a 15,000-word dissertation.
Option modules cover a range of themes and disciplines and are not restricted to a particular historical period or national culture.
Your dissertation is due in mid-September.
