Each application is considered on its own merits, but ordinarily we would ask applicants to have Level 3 qualifications (AS or A Levels/Access to Higher Education qualifications/National Diplomas) or equivalents.

What will I study?
You will study a range of core modules which include: Modernity and the City Research Methods Cultural Theory (looking at Marxism, Psychoanalysis, Feminism, Structuralism, and Post-Modernism). These are supplemented by a range of options selected from the following fields: Language, Politics and Society Literature, Art and Modernity Popular Culture and Media Philosophy, Religion and Ethics Turbulent Texts (Abject Voices and Cultures of Desire). In addition, students will be able to gain practical experience in the use of media technologies.
How is it assessed?
Assessment is continuous and includes essays, reports, seminar presentations and exams. In the final year students will undertake a dissertation or project on a topic chosen in consultation with their tutor.
Future prospects?
Nationally, Cultural Studies degrees have a good track record for graduate employment in a wide variety of careers including teaching, journalism, tourism, the arts, media and communications, advertising, museums and galleries and post-graduate research.
