The curtain is a figure present exclusively in the world of theatrical performance, responsible for opening and closing the curtain. The proscenium curtain, or more commonly curtain, is that sliding drape that closes the scenic arch dividing the stage of a theater from the hall and from the spectators. It is often an artistic object decorated with trimmings and embroidery. It is always made of velvet, a very heavy fabric, since one of its functions is to not let the noises and lights of the stage pass during the scene changes between one act and another. At the top, to finish the masonry proscenium, a fixed cloth is mounted, called fixed harlequin, in draped velvet, usually of the same color as the curtain. The most interesting and beautiful curtains are still the original ones of the eighteenth century.
