Students should have the college's minimum entry requirements for A level; including Grade C or higher in English. Some previous experience of dance classes (in any genre/style) and/or GCSE in Dance or any other related arts subject is preferred.

What are the main features of this course?
Practical experience of performing and choreography is central to the study of Dance in this course. Appreciation is the third element in this threefold approach to study. You will develop the ability and knowledge to identify and analyse the constituent features and forms of dance and the context in which they are presented and from which they are derived. You will also study a number of set works. The department enjoys strong relationships with organisations locally and nationally. Students work with professional dancers and choreographers in various projects and can participate in enrichment activities and theatre visits for Dance

How is the course assessed?
The course is modular. For AS level students complete 2 modules. Module 1 is a written paper and comprises 40% of total AS marks, 20% of the total A level marks. Module 2 consists of 2 practical parts choreograph a solo dance and perform in a duo dance which comprises 60% of total A/S marks, 30% of the total A level marks. For A level, students also complete 2 further modules Module 3 is a written paper which comprises 25% of the total A level marks. Module 4 is a practical paper which students choreograph a group dance and perform a solo dance comprises 25% of the total A level marks.
