Delivered across Park Lane Campus, the new Northern Ballet building and the Yorkshire dance centre, this course is ideal for those interested in being a community dance artist, workshop leader or teacher.
The course will develop the skills that you have gained in your previous two years at level four and five.
Through a combination of theory and practice you will develop your critical appraisal skills and have the opportunity to investigate, in-depth, a negotiated subject of your choice.
Whilst continuing to cultivate your contemporary dance technique, you will also experience various alternative practices and develop yourself as an emerging creative practitioner.
Leeds City College Dance Collective perform their piece Maps Of Identity which was performed at the Worldskills event at London Excel.

Course programme

During this course the following subjects will be covered: Studio Practice (Contemporary Technique) Alternative Dance Practice Choreography Creativity and Critical Appraisal Negotiated Dissertation There is an emphasis on learning through practice. Lecture programmes will support the more theoretical units, as well as group work and independent research. Tutorial support will be provided and on-line resources will be used throughout the course. This course will build on your technical and theoretical knowledge of dance along with skills associated with higher level study such as academic writing, the ability to research and problem solve. Delivered across Park Lane Campus, the new Northern Ballet building and the Yorkshire dance centre.
