Course programme

During the 19th century, European Powers carved up the whole continent of Africa. They vied with each other and with the indigenous peoples and cultures they encountered. They did it in the name of Christian civilisation but the effect was too often one of greed, destruction, and even barbarity. With William Tyler. William Tyler is committed to spreading the idea that learning is for life and has spent his whole professional life in adult education. His was the Principal of The City Lit, Britain’s largest college of adult education. He now has a freelance career including lecturing, public speaking, writing and consultancy. His abiding interest lies in History, Local History and Folklore, on which he speaks and writes widely. Thursday afternoons 2.00-3.30pm
