Details Course Summary

Dementia is the term that describes the symptoms of a large group of illnesses that cause a progressive decline in a person's functioning. It is a broad term also used to describe a loss of memory, intellect, rationality or social skills. It is estimated that dementia affects 6.5 per cent of all Australians aged 65 and over.

Upon successful completion of this short course, you will able to:

  • discriminate between dementia and what is not dementia
  • identify the different types of dementia
  • explore the models of dementia
  • assist with the positive planning of an individual with dementia in your workplace.
