About this course
The Dental Decontamination and Employability Skills Study Programme is made up of a number of different qualifications which include:
Level 1 Safeguarding Certificate
Level 2 First Aid at Work Certificate
Level 2 Health and Safety
Level 3 Certificate in Decontamination of Dental Instruments and Devices. Consisting of a portfolio of evidence and online exam.

Course programme
You will attend college to gain the underpinning knowledge and practical training in dental decontamination and employability skills. You will will also engage in GEM activities to develop your English and maths skills.
There is also a work placement (unpaid) which includes practical training and shadowing of qualified dental staff.
Observation of your practical skills in college and the work place will be undertaken to evidence clinical competency. There is an online exam for Decontamination knowledge.
Who is the course for?
The course is aimed at learners aged 16 – 18 and is designed to help you gain some of the vital skills and experience needed to gain an apprenticeship opportunity as a dental nurse.
What will I learn?

What are the entry requirements?
GCSEs (grades A* – E) in English and maths. Hepatitis B vaccination (to be arranged). Applicants must be aged 16 – 18.
What can I do next?
An Advanced Apprenticeship in Dental Nursing, or Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3. Extension studies for Medical Devices Decontamination in other health care settings such as a hospital. Opportunities for employment in a practice include roles such as a Decontamination Nurse or Cross infection control responsibilities.

Applying for a Full-Time course
Our term starts the week commencing 5th September 2016,
however you may have different start dates depending on the course.
You will receive the details of your first day over the summer period,
