Who is this course for?
The Level 3 Certificate in Dental Decontamination qualification is aimed at learners who need to know how to decontaminate instruments in either healthcare settings or dental settings. The Certificate in Dental Decontamination is for suitable for qualified Dental Nurses looking to take on the role of practice decontamination lead. You will learn on the job in the work environment and assessment will also take place in the workplace, involving the creation of a portfolio to evidence most of the units.


Course Content
City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Dental Decontamination

Units covered in the Dental Decontamination certificate may include:

• Professional practice in dental decontamination


• The layout of the dental decontamination area


• Decontaminating dental instruments within the decontamination area


• Validation and maintenance of dental instruments and equipment


• Principles of infection control in the dental environment

Entry Requirements

Learners must have access to a work setting/placement and the opportunity to decontaminate instruments and devices in a decontamination area and be a registered Dental Nurse with the GDC.
