Course programme
E-learning course covering the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (commonly known as DoLS), which were introduced into the Mental Capacity Act in 2009. The course covers a brief overview of the Mental Capacity Act itself before explaining why there was a need for the DoLS. It covers the difference between a restriction of liberty (which is lawful, if appropriate to the circumstances) and a deprivation of liberty (which is unlawful). It looks at the types of situations which might warrant a DoL authoristaion being granted, and the six qualifying requirements.
