History
Founded in 2012 by Graphic Designer and Ex-University Lecturer Mark Brereton, Descender School of Graphic Design aims to champion the subject in all its many guises. With 19 years experience of design, education and the creative industries, Mark decided to develop Descender to contribute to graphic design education with some new differences in teaching and learning. Since 2003 Mark has explored, documented, experimented and trialed various different directions in creative education. This is the outcome but not the end.

Descender offers a blended approach to study options, from part-time to full-time, and face-to-face and distance learning; the aim is to give the student a flexible learning journey and one that best suits your needs. The courses and classes are centred on the individual learner and focus on the students ability to think for themselves. With the extra learning dimensions to the courses, it raises the awareness of professional practice and academic research, the Descender teaching method and learning journey provides a crossbreed of junior designer and student. It specifically keeps the intake of numbers per course low; this enhances the experience of learning and also creates a collaborative working approach and supportive collective mentality.

Description
Descender School of Graphic Design is an independent learning hub for the study and practice of graphic design. It is a forward thinking, forward motion educational experience. You will learn all the theory, practice and process to become a professional modern day graphic designer.
The courses on offer at Descender School of Graphic Design are flexible, fluid and compliment each other in a module approach. You can study one module, a collection of modules, or all modules to gain a career advancing ProDip, Professional Diploma, equivalent to a BA Hons degree. If you then choose to continue your education with further learning you can also study the MoD Cert, Master of Design Certificate, equivalent to the MA postgraduate degree.
