This two-week course will take you through the whole process of constructing and finishing a shirt to designing a printed fabric to make it out of. You will create your own unique shirt learning a range of new skills as you work. Resulting in something you can wear, use in your portfolio for application to Art School or both.

Topics covered
- Making a shirt toile to gain technical experience of using industrial machines and learn the techniques for constructing collars, plackets, yokes, cuffs and different seam finishes.
- Print design –research a chosen topic and use this as a basis for print ideas
- Printing onto fabric using the heat press
- Making up the final shirt in original printed fabric
- Learn how to present your final piece and the research that went into it in a portfolio.
Outcomes
By the end of the course you will have a finished printed shirt and pattern, a sketchbook full of inspired design ideas, skills in print, working with a pattern and toile, techniques for construction a shirt
Who should take this course
This course is aimed at students aged 16 to 18 who are studying art and design or fashion at college. No prior experience of the techniques covered in the course are required.
