About this course

For 2010 entry: 280 points which must include two A Levels or equivalent.
For 2011 entry: 300 points of which 200 are BB or equivalent.
Level 3 advanced diploma in Creative & Media/Engineering considered.
A minimum DMM in a BTEC 18 unit National Diploma.
Preferred subjects: Physics, Computing, Maths, Electronics
Recommended GCSEs: 4 minimum, including Maths, English and a Technical or Design subject
If English is not your first language: IELTS 6.0 (Academic) or above.

This course will give students all the skills you need to become a successful Design Engineer.

This course has been developed in consultation with industry and professional institutions, ensuring that graduates from this course have excellent career prospects.

Throughout this course you will use excellent facilities. These include detailed computer suites, a Design Centre with modern manufacturing, technical workshops and state of the art prototyping facilities.

Strong industry links and an optional work placement will enhance your employment prospects. We strongly encourage students to take a work placement, as it is invaluable in helping to make an informed decision about your future career pathway. Students are supported throughout the placement experience, and are assisted in finding a placement, as well as given advice and techniques on how to perform well at interviews. Past placements have taken place both in the UK and abroad.
