Diploma in Remedial and Sports Massage or equivalent qualification to the Scottish Massage Schools’ Remedial and Sports Massage Diploma running in Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Inverness.

Time and motivation are necessary for the home study required, as well as a reasonable level of fitness.

Course review:

On completion of the Remedial & Sports Massage course, or a qualification of a similar standard, it is possible to gain entry to the Advanced Remedial Massage Diploma course.

The Advanced Remedial Massage Course runs one weekend per month for ten months in Edinburgh. Home study and practice are also required.

This course leads the student through more detailed anatomy and physiology with emphasis on examination procedures and specific techniques for each particular joint.

To gain a Diploma in Advanced Remedial Massage the student must:

1. attend 160 hours of training over 10 weekends
2. complete home assignments, practice the remedial skills learned at each weekend
3. attain the required standard, passing the final written and practical examinations
4. compile the required case studies to the standard required and submit
5. have the attitude and professionalism required for an Advanced Remedial Massage Therapist.

On receipt of their Advanced Remedial Massage Diploma the graduate is encouraged to join the Scottish Massage Therapists’ Organisation and then to:

* set up in business as a self-employed Advanced Remedial Massage Therapist OR

* find employment at a health centre, sports club or hotel OR
* participate in further education with the Scottish Massage and Manipulative Therapy School as the diploma gives direct access to the Manipulative Therapy course.
