About this course

You should have two GCSEs at grade D in English and maths or a relevant Level 1 qualification and have an interest in bricklaying. Following a successful interview and initial assessment results, you will be allocated a place to study the practical and theoretical elements of bricklaying. Parents and carers are welcome to attend the interview but not the initial assessment

At the end of the course you will receive a Diploma in Bricklaying Level 2 and a Certificate in Employability level 1, you may also gain Functional Skills at the relevant level.

Course programme

What will I study on the course?

You will learn thin joint masonry cladding, solid walling, cavity walling and both isolated and attached piers. Units will also cover safe working practices, contributing to setting out and several other bricklaying skills. Ideal if you would like to further develop your bricklaying skills and knowledge.

Additional information

You will attend college two and a half days per week for one year. The main enrolment period for this course is in September but there will also be the opportunity to start the course at other times if places are available.
