The course follows the City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma which is designed to support vehicle technicians in the diagnostic aspect the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Industry.
This Level 3 qualification is designed to provide a standardised approach for the delivery and assessment of the knowledge and skills requirements. It also provides the knowledge requirements for its related VCQ and forms the knowledge component of the IMI Maintenance and Repair Apprenticeship framework (for Light Vehicle).

About this course
Successful learners who are also following an apprenticeship programme will have secured the necessary underpinning knowledge needed to further complete the associated VCQ.
The course qualifies for UCAS points, and opportunities for progression into associated Higher Education programmes may also be available at the nominated universities' discretion.
Applicants may be enrolled on the associated apprenticeship framework and have successfully completed the preceding Motor Vehicle Level 2 Technical Diploma and competence based VCQ.
A selection panel will consider each applicant's existing academic and vocational experience, plus the enthusiasm and determination to succeed.

Course programme
The course is delivered through practical demonstrations which are supported through realistic working tasks, where the emphasis is on you demonstrating the required skills. Underpinning knowledge for each unit is given via classroom based mode of delivery, where you are encouraged to participate in a range of learner centered activities.
Learners are assessed in a variety of ways including practical activities, multi-choice online examinations and participation in portfolio and assignment work.
