The Diploma of Business covers all three core skills units and five of the eight core units of Southern Cross University’s Bachelor of Business. Topics could include accounting, finance, economics, business law, statistics, marketing, management, ethics and sustainability.
Successful graduates of the Diploma of Business will be eligible to gain one year of advanced standing towards the Associate Degree of Business, Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Business in Tourism and Hospitality Management, Bachelor of Business in Convention and Event Management, or Bachelor of Information Technology.
The Diploma of Business is offered through SCU College.
All SCU College students are offered extra support through College Connect while undertaking this Diploma.
Career opportunities
Graduates of the Diploma of Business may begin careers in general areas of business including accounting, finance and marketing.
Assessment methods
Assessment may be in the form of essays, reports, audio or video presentations, online quizzes, case analyses, and examinations.
Teaching methods
On-campus students experience a variety of teaching approaches including face-to-face lectures and tutorials. Some units offer online activities, classes, pre-recorded and/or live lectures. The method of teaching may vary from unit to unit.
The distance education study option is highly interactive and strives to promote collaboration and a sense of community. Table of contents Admission requirements Course requirements Schedule of units Course progressions Admission requirements Applicants for admission to candidature to the Associate Degree of Business or the Diploma of Business must have an assessable entry qualification from a country where English is the main language and where the medium of instruction for that qualification was English, or have completed an International English Language Test (or equivalent) with a minimum overall score of 5.5 and a minimum score of 5.0 in each subtest (or equivalent). Course requirements To be eligible for a Diploma of Business a candidate shall successfully complete the equivalent of eight (8) units (96 credit points) comprising: All three units listed in Part A; and Five (5) units selected from Part B; or Any five (5) units selected from Part B of the Schedule of Units and other units listed in the Associate Degree of Business approved by the Director, SCU College.
