Overview
This introductory course offers guidance on brush and roller techniques using oil and water based paints and will train you with the relevant skills for a career in industry. By learning how to prepare plaster and wood (on walls and woodwork), preparing walls for papers, finish papers and paint, you’ll feel confident to start work. The course emphasises good health and safety practices and improving your own communication, to give you more opportunity to become a Painter and Decorator.

Entry Requirements
No formal qualifications are required, you will have an interview with the specialist tutor and an assessment of English and maths will be made at enrolment. You must also have a keen interest in the subject.

Course Duration
One year, full time

Course Assessment
This course is assessed with practical modules, theory units, online exams and assignments. At the end of the course you will also be required to complete an online test in Basic Construction Skills Health and Safety.

Progression
Successful completion of this qualification provides you with basic knowledge and skills required for progression into employment or to the Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating.
