The course is ideal for learners who have an interest in painting and decorating and who are willing to build knowledge and skills through extensive high quality training.
You will cover a range of painting and decorating techniques at a foundation level. You will develop the expertise to work independently and establish a firm understanding of foundation decorative effects. It covers the following skills:
Health and safety
Principles of construction
Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms
Preparing surfaces for decoration
Applying paint systems by brush and roller
Applying foundation and plain papers
Producing specialist decorative finishes
Appropriate supporting qualifications to broaden your skill set and meet the needs of the community

About this course
Level 2 Diploma Painting and Decorating, an Apprenticeship or other employment.
Subject to interview based on GCSEs, equivalent qualifications and own merit.
All learners will need to undertake an industry assessment to help determine the most appropriate course.
You need to have a desire to work in the construction industry. Full commitment to attendance is required. Respect for others, enthusiasm for the subject and self-motivation are the essential qualities we expect to see in all our learners.

Course programme
You will be continually assessed and there is an expectation that you will continue your studies and coursework during your own time.
The course is delivered by both practical sessions with excellent workshop facilities and theory lessons to underpin the knowledge learnt in the practical sessions. You will be assessed via practical assignments, written assignments and multiple choice unit end tests.
Elements of this course can be delivered through the medium of Welsh.
