Home Study or In Studio, this course can help develop an existing interest in interior design, start or grow your own business, enter a design career or progress onto a Degree in Interior Design (also offered at the NDA)

You will cover:
Drawing - Materials & equipment, room survey, elevations & scale, applying colour, creating professional presentations
Design - Space planning, furniture dimensions, choosing furniture, professional smaple and mood boards
Lighting - Natural, ambient, task and accent lighting. How to choose lamps and fittings to create amazing lighting schemes.
Finishes - Floor and wall coverings, fabrics, textures, art work and accessories.
Soft Furnishings - Designing window treatments, choosing appropriate fabrics, visualising the design.
Colour Theory - The colour wheel, psychological effects of colour, choosing successful colour schemes
Perspective Drawing - Step-by-step guide to perspective drawing without tears. How to add furniture, figures and plants to your drawing to bring your design scheme to life.
Briefing - Successful client briefs and their interpretation
Implementing a Design - Project manage th design from concept to completion
Business Advice - Opening trade accounts, templates for contracts, letters, invoices and quotations, and an introduction to advertising and marketing
Personal Development - How to stay up to date with the latest ideas and trends. What to do next career and higher education advice.
Essential Equipment
- drawing pen and pencil
- scale rule with 1:10, 1:20 and 1:50 scales (approx £8)
- adjustable set-square (approx £16)
- pastels, crayons, watercolours, etc.

Home Study Option
Enrol at any time and work flexibly to suit your lifestyle. The average study time is 6 months with some students taking up to the maximum of 15 months
In Studio Option
- Week 1 In Studio
- Weeks 2, 3, 4 & 5 at home - complete a Design Project (approx 30hrs)
- Week 6 In Studio to complete the course
After my course
Once you have completed our NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Professonal Interior Design, you are guaranteed a place on our Foundation Degree (FdA) in Interior Design; validated and awarded by our partner, Staffordshire University.
Alternatively, you can become a freelance Interior Design Consultant or work in a related industry such as kitchen design, soft furnishings or design retailer.
