If you are aged or over and are starting a course at level 3 to level 6 you may qualify for an Advanced Learner Loan from the Government which can cover the costs of your tuition fees. The Advanced Learner Loan will replace the + Advanced Learning Loan. This is because the remit of these loans is being expanded so they are available to everyone aged and over and for study at levels 3 to 6. Applications for the Advanced Learn Loan can be made from May for courses starting from 1 August . A loan from the government can cover all your tuition fees and give you access to courses you thought were out of reach.
• The loan is not dependent on household income
• There are no credit checks.

Entry requirements
A good standard of education, enthusiasm and commitment and a level 2 or level 3 beauty therapy qualification. Interviews will be held and students will be screened to check literacy and numeracy. In addition, if English is not the first language, applicants will be asked to do a Diagnostic Test; this will determine the appropriate course and level for each student.

Subjects covered You will study the following: The principles and practice for complimentary therapies Business practice for complimentary therapies Knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology for complementary therapies Reflexology practice and healthy eating and well being. Assessment This programme consists of a number of case studies you will required to do off site in your study time as well as assessed case studies on site with clients so that assessment can be monitored. Students will be expected to do assignments/tasks, oral questions and written papers to support each area of learning. Progression The Foundation Degree in Management (Salon & Spa), or Salon and Spa Management, or employment within the beauty industry.
