This course is intended to equip the student of manual therapy with knowledge and techniques beyond those involved in Swedish Massage, and enable the graduate to treat many common disorders as well as play an important part in health maintenance. Business set-up instructions are included in the course. Suitable for: Suitable for qualified Swedish / Holistic / Therapeutic Massage Therapists and qualified Physiotherapists (although some training in Swedish Massage is also required, but can be done very quickly).

Course review:
On completion of the Swedish Massage Diploma course, or a qualification of a similar standard, it is possible to gain entry to the Remedial & Sports Massage Diploma course.
The Remedial & Sports Massage Course runs one weekend per month for eight months at various venues. Home study & practice are also required.
To gain a Diploma in Remedial & Sports Massage the student must:
1. attend 120 hours of training over 8 weekends
2. complete home assignments and practice the practical skills learned at each weekend
3. attain the required standard, passing the final written and practical examinations
4. compile the required case studies to the standard required and submit
5. have the attitude and professionalism required for a Remedial & Sports Massage Therapist.
Remedial & Sports Massage is the skilled, manual, therapeutic application of soft tissue manipulative techniques which are selected and performed after careful consultation, recording of medical history and appropriate general and specific assessments.
The techniques include performance enhancement, restorative, event-related and rehabilitative techniques to improve the condition of the client, assist in his wellbeing and performance everywhere, e.g. in the workplace, in sport (professional and amateur), and the treatment of conditions or injuries.
On qualification with a Remedial & Sports Massage Diploma graduates are encouraged to apply to the Scottish Massage Therapists’ Organisation and then:
- Set up in business as a self-employed Massage Therapist OR
- Find employment at a health centre, sports club or hotel OR
- Participate in further education with Scottish Massage Schools as the Diploma gives direct access to the Advanced Remedial Massage course.
